You might have noticed in the featured video of 41 Torrey Rd. the beautiful creek that runs behind the backyard…that is Scorton Creek! This tidal creek that runs through beautiful salt water marshlands gives you direct access, not only to the ocean at high tide but whether you want to jump in the kayak or grab your SUP board. While most people head to the bridge off of 6A to drop in, YOU get direct access from your backyard! Whether you want a pleasant paddle along the creek or you are out to do some fishing, Scorton has it all, including a vast array of wildflowers and a variety of wildlife.
Not only is Scorton Creek an amazing place to relax and surround yourself in nature, but the marsh is a natural flood barrier. Salt marshes are dominated by dense strands of salt-tolerant plants such as herbs, grasses and low shrubs which dampen storm waves and slows flows pushing inland.
And if you are looking to stay on dry land, get in your morning exercise or just de-stress from a hard day’s work, Scorton Marsh offers a hiking loop that is less than a mile around, good for all skill levels and is available year-round!
Check out the tide schedule and plan your daily dose of nature!
